A more leisurely start to today. Still nice and early for breakfast (7:30am!!!) but not such a rush to get out for 9am. Last day for souvenir shopping today as we visited the local town of Zell am See. After a short walk into town from the coach, we had an hour and a half shopping time, before we all met up to order ice creams at the very fancy Grand Hotel. Everyone took it in turns to order their ice creams, telling the waiter in German how many scoops and which flavour. The waiter was extremely patient and allowed each person enough time to try out their German. I think everyone got what they wanted! After cooling down with ice cream, there was a photo opportunity in front of the 'Austria Fountain', in the hotel grounds, designed by eccentric Austrian architect, Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
For lunch we found a lovely spot by the lake and ate our packed lunches that we had made at breakfast. We had a nice treat whilst we were eating because right in front of us, there was a water show in the lake with water dancing to music playing in the background.
Refuelled, the group then walked the 45 minute route back to the hotel, where we had free time for the rest of the day.
The best bit was yet to come...the foam party! In the evening after tea and after all work was completed, everyone gathered together outside for our last night party. Foam gushed out of a pipe up to knee height, which everyone loved! It was hard to recognise our group because some of them were covered head to toe in foam; for some of them I swear it was the first time they had had a wash!
What a fantastic week; such a fun group and I hope they enjoyed the trip as much as we did!
